I’ve been working hard finishing up a Christmas album I started recording in July at DKS studios. The basic tracks include Blues Kitchen members Jan Martinelli on bass and Kendrick Freeman on drums, with myself on guitar, of course. It includes 7 original Christmas songs I wrote for Christmas concerts at Centerville Presbyterian Church over the last 8 years. Four tracks include the CPC choir. Also included are 4 jazz instrumentals (Christmas classics), featuring Brad Catania on trumpet and flugelhorn. We are in the process of mixing everything now, soon to be put in the oven and ready for a tasty Christmas treat! It will be available by Dec. 1st so please check it out on this website or at i-Tunes, CD Baby, Amazon, etc. It will be entitled “Come In To Christmas”. Great for last minute gifts, eh? Well…all my family members will probably get one (unless they’ve been naughty). Peace on Earth, baby…

We went to the Blue Wing Blues Festival in July to relax and hear John Lee Hooker Jr. I was around the corner cooling off in the pool when the opening band got going. The guitar sounded very much like B.B. King and I thought, “Hey, these guys are gonna be good!” There were some sweet female harmonies too, and I heard her name Sarah Baker on keyboard. She rocked the Marshall Tavern and the joints in Cotati way back in the 70’s. When I eventually got dressed and down to the music I looked for the old black guy… it was Nancy. After the show I told her what I had thought and she said “I must be an old black bluesman in a white woman’s body.” The Christmas CD sounds good too, I spent my early Sundays in the Presbyterian Church and look forward to hearing what this one can bring to Nancy’s interpretations.

Hey when did DiscMakers say that your CDs would arrive? I was just looking at this blog on your site. By the way, where did “DKS Studios” come from? Perhaps when I’m rich and famous and I can have more than one studio.
For now, it’s just DKS Productions.
See ya soon,
Don
Thanks Dan! I remember your comment at the Blue Wing Blues Fest…made me smile! So glad you liked the band. Hopefully we’ll be up your way again next summer. Yes, Sarah Baker rocked a lot of places back in the day and I feel so fortunate to have her playing with us in Blues Kitchen. She is the real deal, as they say. Hope you enjoy the Christmas CD and have a wonderful holiday season! Nancy

They were Dec 9, 10, 11 2011 at Centerville Presbyterian Church in Fremont, California. They are the second weekend in Dec. every year. Perhaps you can come next year? Thanks for inquiring.
Thanks so much. Happy New Year and Cheers!
